Are you and Pornography

The thing about pornography is that you discover and forge relationships before you meet your future wife, friends and even the Lord. The adrenalin rush that pornography hands out can feel like it’s Christmas day and all your birthdays rolled into one.

So it’s not surprising that you at some point may have made a covenant or a promise to do whatever it takes to keep this treasure hidden so that your special friend won’t be exposed or taken away from you.

The words you speak carry life and death Pro 18 21 and at some point in your ” special friendship” you may have granted him the control he was longing for.

Your enemy is a legalist lying in wait to latch on to any careless words you may speak, so ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you your foolishness.

“not tonight dear, I’m logging on”

“NOW!” seems to be the cry from a legion of frustrated men at bedtime. The whole idea about porn is sex sex and lots more sex. For the vast majority of men, porn is their first exposure to the ‘birds and the bees’. But, unfortunately, pornography leaves everybody with a completely wrong and distorted view of what God created sex to be through marriage.

Most porn users will deliberately deny their wives tender intimacy and will starve themselves of sex, just because they can’t get to act out the porn-sex they desire. The reason is they are being led by the flesh and not by the spirit. The flesh is selfish, it takes and demands, abuses, defiles and degrades. On the other hand the spirit is gentle, loving, He nurtures and cares. But you don’t need me to tell you all of this, if you would only take time and listen to your wife she will confirm everything.

The ruling spirit behind pornography is driving a wedge between you both and making sure that God isn’t receiving the worship HE deserve’s from when sex is expressed through love. Pornography is constantly squaring up and challenging the Holy Spirit, and it’s using your marriage and sex life to score points.

Let me put it like this, you are being used as a pawn in a chess game. Your porn life is floating you around the board and you can’t make the next move by yourself. So what if your marriage breaks down – there are lots of other pawns to carry on it’s assault against the Holy Spirit.

Whenever you think of the term LSD what does it conjure up? Do you think about the 70’s hallucinogenic drugs of that era, flower power and hippies? Or do you recall the horror stories about the way it’s effects have left users with mind distorting nightmares and flash-backs?

Well, in a sense pornography could be compared with LSD, in the way that it’s users can have flash-backs of the images that once got them high, along with a tormented lifestyle of no rest, no peace of mind, no understanding of what they are experiencing. LSD addicts are a bit more fortunate because there are lots of helpful programs and rehab available. But for the porn addict, there has been very little help, that is until now.

Consider Romans 1- 28 KJV. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; the ESV calls it a debased mind, the NIV a depraved mind, the Amplified a reprobate mind, the NLT a foolish mind, NLV a sinful mind, Good News a corrupted mind, CEB a defective mind.  So whatever you want to call it scripture has it covered. But of course the ‘L’ ‘S’ ‘D’ we are talking about here isn’t a drug. It’s found in James 1v15: Then when LUST hath conceived, it bringeth forth SIN: and sin when it is finished, bringeth forth DEATH. If Pornography is your choice of drug it can be as harmful as the chemical substances that drug addicts pump into their bodies. The word of God makes it clear that we are a temple of the Holy Spirit, so how can He share His glory with all the filth that has been allowed in?

Every dictator throughout history has been remembered for the way they have handed out harsh treatment to those who stood up for justice.  When oppression has become institutionalized like Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Russia, Mao’s China, there is no escape, no rest, no choice, no freedom, no peace which is totally the opposite to what Christ has promised to those who remain faithful to Him.   Oppressors raise the bench mark by how everybody should live, what they should watch and read. Take a close look and see just how far your own society has slid in recent years. Even Christian websites have fallen foul to this (new) education, teaching their followers that oral sex and anal penetration is fine, it’s okay, if it feels good and the two of you are happy with it – go for it.

Pornography is cruel to the women who perform and spin its lies, programming what they must look like, dress like, behave and act like right the way through to the wives who are expected to re-enact its sexual rites of Baal Peor worship. They have fallen subject to the lies their husbands have believed or rather been brain-washed into believing what is acceptable in the bedroom.  Pornography has been created for one purpose and one purpose only and that is to mentally stimulate people’s minds, especially men’s minds with thoughts of wickedness, perverted sex, ungodly imagines/ scenarios, that encourage users to defile the marriage-bed, their wives and themselves in front of God.

How grateful are we that we have God’s word to remind us that we are passing through this world and that we should not conform to its habits. The KJV uses the term “a peculiar people” – lets start living that way and stand up for what Christ died for.

Col 2- 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
