Hand it all Over to God, He Will Act

BEAUTY FOR ASHES – HELP FOR A HURTING WIFE

DAY 19 – Hand It all Over to God, He Will Act

PSALM 37:5 – Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act.

As I studied each of my favourite scriptures closely, I realised that any verse containing a promise, mostly always contained a condition for God bringing that promise to pass and this one is no exception. It is a tiny verse with two conditions, which if met, set a great promise in motion.

Lady on mountain

Commit Your Way to the Lord

The first condition is to “commit” your way unto the Lord.

This means we need to totally yield, give up, or totally surrender.  We need to give God complete control of everything, including our husbands, our children, our marriage and all our circumstances.  No matter whether things are good or if things are bad, God wants all of us.  We can’t say today we’re in and tomorrow we’re out, depending on how we feel.   We need to fully trust Him all the time and say, “God you know what is best for me, my husband and my marriage, please have your way.”

You Can Always Trust God

The second condition is that we must trust Him.

We can commit to a lot of things but never really have trust.  Many people make a commitment to marriage but when your spouse betrays you, you can lose your trust for him and he needs to earn that trust once more.  It’s not like that with God.  He wants us to trust in Him, He is the only One who will never, ever fail us.  We should trust in His word and in His Son. He has our best interests at heart.  Remember God sees the bigger picture and knows all that is happening. God created you.  He loves you with a perfect love.  He will work out everything for your good and for His glory.

Be Patient and He Will Act!

It is after we have committed to Him and have placed all our trust in Him, that we will see God act in our lives. Maybe not straight away, or all at once, but He has promised that if we commit and trust, HE WILL ACT, and God does not break His promises.  Unfortunately, we can get frustrated, or even mad at God, because things aren’t working out the way we want them to or there seems to be nothing happening at all. This is not what the Lord wants for us.  He wants us to focus on Him, and as we do, He will act, and He will begin a wonderful transformation in our husbands and our marriages. When we live our lives this way, He will make our burdens light and we will have the peace, joy and satisfaction that all of us desperately need and desire.

He Will Carry You ThroughJesus carrying you

Don’t allow doubts or fears to cause you to turn from God. This means that instead of trying to do what you think is right in your own power, look to God not only for guidance but also for the strength and the will power to do what pleases and honours Him. This calls for constant prayer, where we repeatedly ask God for grace to guide, strengthen, and protect us.

I commit my way to You Lord, I trust in You and I know You will act in my husband, my marriage and my circumstances.

When dangers and conflicts arise, quote this little verse to yourself, remember the promise it contains and He will carry you through any struggles in life. He has the power to move heaven and earth on our behalf. He has guided me safely through countless dangers, and has never failed to protect me from harm and He will do the same for you.

Would You Marry Your Husband All Over Again?

During the first 15 years of my marriage, and at my most unhappy moments, if someone had asked would I marry my husband all over again, I probably would have hesitated in my answer.  My mood would change from high to low, mostly low, depending on how our relationship was going at the time.  I realise now that my joy was in my husband and how he treated me, not in my Abba Father.  God brought us together for a reason. God has carried us through many trials and heartaches, and He has a greater vision of His plan and I only have a little piece of it. God has been intimately involved in my life right from the time I was in my mother’s womb until now and cares very much about what happens to me.  He has great plans for me and my husband.  It may be different plans or desires or dreams than I ever thought I wanted but His plans are more extraordinary than any I could ever imagine.  He has great plans for you too, and far more than you could ever imagine possible, so allow Him to have His way in your marriage.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21.

You don’t have to understand completely how God works all His ways, all you have to do today is wait patiently, commit to Him, trust in Him and He will act!

Just a Teaspoon at a Time

BEAUTY FOR ASHES – HELP FOR A HURTING WIFE

DAY 18 – God Will Move Your Mountain, Even if it is Just a Teaspoon at a Time

MARK 11:23 – I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

It is impossible for God to lie!

I so love this verse and it is one I have memorized so that it has become engrafted into my heart.  This is one of the most powerful and limitless promises given by Jesus Himself.  It makes me smile when I read the beginning of this verse “I tell you the truth”, as if Jesus could do anything but tell the truth!  He cannot lie! Here Jesus is also emphasising the fact that when we tell our mountain of problems to go in His name, He really will move them for us.

If We Believe What We Say Will Happen!

This verse says “believes that what he says will happen”, in other words we need to have faith in God and believe that He can move our mountain.  Faith is a gift and is the most powerful force that God has given us. With it we can move mountains.

Jesus says that All You Need is Faith the Size of this Mustard Seed
Jesus says that All You Need is Faith the Size of this Mustard Seed

Faith should not be in ourselves but in God.  Faith is confidence in God and all that He says.

Jesus says these promises are available for you even if you only have faith given to you as small as a mustard seed.

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

Speak To Your Problems

Jesus says we are to speak to our problems.  “If anyone says to this mountain”.   So, tell the devil ” take your dirty, rotten hands off my husband and my marriage”.  Trust God that all strife and disharmony be cast into the sea in Jesus’ name. There is power in the spoken word of God, this is the “rhema” word of God.   We need to use scriptures as prayers and speak them out loud.  Remind God of His promises. Pray the word of God and come into agreement with His will and what He is saying. God wants you to live a life of happiness in abundance.

Don’t Focus on Your Circumstances

We tend to always look and see if our situation has changed or if God has answered our prayers.  If we don’t see any change then we get discouraged and begin to doubt.

Focussing on our problems will make them appear as mountains. God becomes smaller, but when you focus on God the problem gets smaller. Your problem is like a speck of dust in God’s eyes.  He will honour His promises when we stay focussed on Him and trust in Him that whatever happens, He is in control and it is or our good.

A Teaspoonful at a Time!

Teaspoon at a time

Sometimes it can look like God doesn’t hear us, and that our mountain isn’t moving.  I used to think He didn’t hear my cries and that my mountain of marriage problems was never going to budge.  However, my mountain did begin to move, not all at once, or that I could even see, but in small pieces, sometimes as tiny as a teaspoon at a time, and I would lose heart because it didn’t look as though anything was happening.  However, it wasn’t long before all those tiny teaspoons grew and grew and it was only after a time that I could look back and see that God did clearly hear me and answer me.  His timing is always perfect.

I thank God and praise Him for moving my mountain, even if it was just a teaspoon at a time!

Porn Talk prayer

Lord, Your word has given me everything that I need to raise up a child into a godly adult. I ask that You break the awkwardness that I feel when I approach this subject.  The world and the media is leading this generation astray through the lies that it promotes and Lord I want to stand in the gap and counteract them with Your truth. Your servant Moses stumbled with his words and through Your grace he was still able to lead a nation. Lord, I also consider myself your servant and ask that You release through me the courage that I need to lead my family as scripture teaches with wisdom and understanding so that the next generation may be worthy of your name, I ask this in Jesus’ name Amen

Do not be deceived

1 Cor 5:9-11  I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.

6:9-10  Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 6; 7-8  Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Ephesians 5v5  For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Colossians 3: 5-7  Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

1 Thessalonians 4: 3-5  For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;

Titus 1 15-16  To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work

Hebrews 12 v 16-17  lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. 17 For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.

James 1: 14-16  But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

2 Peter 2: 14-22  having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollution’s of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,”[e] and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

1 John 1:5-9  This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

3 8-9 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

Jeremiah 44 13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt.

Who gets the worship prayer

Father, I confess that I can’t seem to help myself, and that I have sinned against You by worshipping at the altar of sexual idolatry. Lord I have abused my spirit, my soul, my body, my spouse and others through my involvement with pornography. Lord I deeply repent of all my involvement in (speak out all the sexual sins that the Spirit brings to mind) and I place everything at your feet.  I choose now to make You Lord over my sexuality and all its expressions and place You on the throne of my life.

Lord, by Your grace, I now choose to use my sexuality as a way to honour and glorify You. Fill me with Your strength every day, to not give into temptation by taking every thought captive and averting my eyes so I do not stumble. Father Your word is clear on this matter and the consequences involved of a rebellious heart.  Work through me Holy Spirit until I feel the anguish that the Father feels over this sin in my life, I confess that I am helpless without You and that I need Your help today. In Jesus name Amen
