How big is Porn Prayer

Lord, there is an ungodly industry that is luring the saints astray through temptation and lies. Claiming that the only way to find fulfillment and satisfaction is through pornography and away from You. Lord I feel weak and too frightened to stand against this on my own but with the power of the Holy Spirit equipping me I know that all things are possible. David was a lowly shepherd boy yet was able to bring down Goliath as he blasphemed against You, so encourage me right now as I take my stand in this fight so that I too can share in Your glory as You bring down this giant,  I ask this in the name of Jesus amen.

Walking in Goliath’s footsteps

How Big is Porn?

As a child sitting through my Sunday school classes, I was always thrilled to hear the story of King David killing Goliath. Sitting there, my imagination would run riot about how big and fierce this guy was and how he would mock God in front of His presence and get away with it. Well, we all know the story, God raised up David, the most unlikely hero and Goliath was slain by him.  That was that, job done, no more mocking my God – not until a new giant came upon the scene. Pornography, a giant, just like the last one, is mocking and taunting God and keeping His army in fear because they didn’t know how to handle it approach it and more importantly slay it.

Pornography is a multi-billion dollar bully/industry that thrives on working through loop-holes, with no clear definition or governing body to regulate it or more importantly enforce it. Pornography’s strength lies behind the separate and divide rule.  What is tolerated in some regions of the world, like bestiality and violent porn will not be tolerated in others, while the age of purchasing porn in some countries could be as low as 15, in others you could end up facing the death penalty. And the money that is up for grabs greedy politicians will never find enough morality to say no.

The size of the pornography industry is mind boggling.  It is an incredibility lucrative business in sexual exploitation that thrives on never satisfying the consumer.

Steve Orenstein, president of Wicked Pictures, “You have to try really hard to lose money in this business”

Is it any wonder with the cash that is being spent on it!

  • Every second $3,000 or £2,000 is being spent on porn.
  • Every second 28.258 Internet users are viewing porn.
  • Every second 372 Internet users are typing adult search terms into search engine.
  • Every 39 minutes a new pornographic movie is being created in the United States that adds up to 150 new releases every week. If you watched porn 24 hours a day, it would take several years just to get through the 13,558 hard-core titles released last year as opposed to Hollywood’s mere 400 movies.
  • 2 Million Pornographic websites.
  • 420 million Pornographic pages.
  • 68 million daily porn search engine requests.
  • 5 billion Daily porn emails sent.
  • 7% of internet users who view porn.
  • 5 billion Monthly porn downloads.
  • 72 million monthly visitors to porn websites.
  • Internet sales 4.9 billion dollars.
  • 100,000 websites offer illegal child porn – it has become one of the fastest growing businesses online.
  • 000 daily child pornography requests worth over 3 billion alone in 2005
  • Web pages US 244.661.900, UK is 3rd with 8.506.800.  33% of internet users in the UK search for porn

 – It’s all about the money –

  • China spends the most on porn, with a staggering $27.40 billion a year, followed by S. Korea with 25.73 Billion. Japan 19.98 next is US, Australia and then the UK 6th with 1.97 billion spent on the filth.
  • Globally the annual revenue of pornography exceeds 97 billion dollars, that’s bigger than the revenue of the top tech companies Micro Soft, Google, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo, Apple, Netflix, and Earth Link combined.
  • In the US there are more adult outlets for hard core porn than McDonalds restaurants almost on a 3:1 basis.
  • Pornographic products out sell nappies 2-1 and more money is spend in strip clubs than on Broadway shows, Regional Theatres and orchestral performances,
  • And also, more than Americans spend on Baseball, basket ball and football combined.

– Business or pleasure –

Scott Maslow from Pornication, “Rich people go where the money is, so it was only a matter of time until morality got thrown out the window”. So porn has moved into the boardroom as well.

General Motors, the world’s largest company, was at one time earning more money through a company that it owned called TV Direct, selling porn via cable to homes across America, than it was at producing and selling cars.  In fact, they were selling more explicit films than hustler.

Hotel chains have also jumped on the band wagon.  Up to 50% of customers rent porn and nearly 70% of their overall profits from room services come from hiring porn movies. And not forgetting all those broadband providers who are also raking it in.

To be realistic, the pornography industry is probably set to grow even bigger and stronger, by intimidating those who oppose it and lining the pockets of those who smooth the way for it. The only organisation that can stand up to this threat is the body of Christ, it can’t be bought or bribed by it’s millions.  It can’t fall under it’s seducing hypnotic powers of lust and free sex.  The bigger this porn industry grows, the greater the glory will be given to Christ as He pulls it down.  Click here for  So how big is Porn? Prayer

What kind of wife does God want you to be?

BEAUTY FOR ASHES – HELP FOR A HURTING WIFE

DAY 13 – What Kind of Wife Does God Want You to Be?

PROVERBS 31:10-31 – A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.  She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.  She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.  Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.  She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.  Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all”.  Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.  Honour her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise at the city gate

Proverbs 31 womanWow!  That Proverbs 31 woman is something special, isn’t she? Is it possible to be like her? Can anyone ever measure up to her?

I believe that through these verses, God wants us to catch the spirit of the Proverbs 31 woman and not her workload or even her perfectionism.  He doesn’t expect any one woman to have every single one of these qualities and He doesn’t want us to feel condemnation if we don’t meet up to them.   Jesus is the only perfect person who ever lived.  He never sinned, there was no-one ever as perfect as Him and there never will be, but yet the Bible teaches us we are to become more like Him and to grow more into His image.

I believe this is what God is asking us to do as wives through the example of this lady – to become more like her by showing grace, love and humility.

Make God the Centre

I have learned that the key to a happy marriage is firstly making God the centre, and then the husband and wife being mutually committed to each other so as to make the marriage a success.  Unfortunately, though, many times in marriage, one person does all the work and the other sits back and selfishly takes all that’s going.  A happy marriage means both spouses working as a team.

You Are Not A Doormat

Many modern women believe these verses make wives look like doormats or men’s servants, or even worse.  I haven’t found anywhere in the Bible saying that wives should be slaves to their husbands.  Yes, it talks about godly submission, but also that husbands should sacrifice their lives to serve their wives, just like Jesus loves His bride the Church.

Some believe that wifely submission means that a wife can make no decisions, isn’t allowed a mind of her own, and has to be at the mercy of a controlling husband. This is not the case.  These verses tell us that God expects wives to be able to handle money, even to earn their own money (if desired), to be the overseers of their households, and to be able to make important decisions regarding their homes and lives.

Who is a virtuous woman?

Proverbs 31 tells us that this is the woman who puts God first.  The ideal woman of Proverbs 31 should be an encourager to others.  She should have a reverent fear of the Lord and her priorities should be determined by God’s will, not hers.  She should not be a “people pleaser”, but a “God pleaser”.  She should know that true strength only comes from God.  Proverbs 31 says that “strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure”.

Wow!  How I would love my Father to say that about me!

Remember What Jesus Taught Martha Over Two Thousand Years Ago

Do you remember how Mary sat at the Lord’s feet, listening intently to what He taught?  Martha was very busy, being distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. So she came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:38-42

If you want to be ready spiritually for the daily tasks God gives to you, you must spend time sitting at His feet, just like Mary did. How much time do you spend at His feet?  Sometimes we are so busy with life, and our problems, or even doing things for God, that we forget all He really wants is your heart.   Many husbands spend so much time at work trying to provide for their wives and children and they have little to no time to spend with the family.  Many of us would rather have time alone with the ones we love, than have them constantly working.  God feels the same way. He would rather have time alone with you,  the one He loves, than all of your work – even if the work you are doing is really for Him.

Find time to be alone with Him
Find time to be alone with Him

It is only in that time alone with you that He can give you the strength that you will need to be the woman He designed you to be.

It is in the time you spend sitting at His feet, in fellowship with Him, that your Father can truly clothe you in strength and dignity.  The real strength of a woman does not lie in her physical actions, but her spiritual ones.  Do everything each day as if it is to the Lord.  He will give you the strength to keep on going.

Do Not Gossip About Your Husband

If you seek to be like the Proverbs 31 woman, you should not gossip or speak negatively about your husband publicly. Pray for him always and protect his name. Learn how to control your tongue. Don’t complain about him. However, if you feel the need to discuss your husband, you should do so only with a trusted Christian woman who is preferably married and make sure she will provide scripturally-based advice, will not judge, and can keep a confidence  Also, as a wife, we should never bring shame to our husband’s name.

Although the Bible says that the man is the head of the home, it doesn’t give him any right to be unkind or abusive towards his wife.  Sometimes “religious” men use this position to bully their wives. God also expects every husband to be like the husband in Ephesians 5:25-33.

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Nothing Is Impossible for God

I know this may sound impossible at the moment, but God wants you to “smile at the future.” (Verse 25) and remember, you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you.

He doesn’t want you living in fear of what tomorrow may bring.  He holds your future in His loving hands.  Trust him, aim to be like this lady and see what He will do for you as you obey His word.

You Don’t Need to Be Afraid, Perfect Love Casts Out All Your Fears

BEAUTY FOR ASHES- HELP FOR A HURTING WIFE

DAY 11 – You Don’t Need to be Afraid, Perfect Love Will Cast Out all your Fears

1 JOHN 4:18 – There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love

Another Beautiful PromiseWord of God hugging lady

I mentioned this verse in my last study, but feel that it is so important for us to know and experience the love of God, that I should go a bit deeper.   Yet another beautiful promise from your Abba Father to you.  He promises that His perfect love will rid you of all your worries, fears and anxieties.   Are you suffering from fear or anxiety?  Are you worried about the future and  that God won’t come through for you?

Meditate on God’s Love

Only God is perfect and God is Love.  So in order to understand God’s perfect love you need to meditate on His love for you, which is demonstrated in His Word. When you understand the perfect love of God which He proves through the death of His only Son for sinners, even when we were God’s enemies, you will realize that all we need do is believe and live in His love as He told us, and there will be nothing to be afraid of.

What is Fear?

The Bible tells us we should “fear” God.  For the believer, the fear of God is reverence of Him.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ’God is a consuming fire.’” Hebrews 12:28-29.

Reverence and awe becomes the motivating factor for us to surrender everything to Him.  So the “fear of the Lord” is awe.  It is worship. It is wonder. It is absolute adoration. It is total “submission” to God.

Let Your Faith Be Bigger Than Your Fear!

Then there is another type of fear that grips us from head to toe.  This fear is of the devil.  It terrorises and haunts us. It is like a dread or doomsday kind of feeling.  It takes over everything and begins to control us.

I used to worry myself sick about so many things past, present and especially the future.  I was so afraid of what the future held for me and afraid of what the future held for my children.  I couldn’t get my mind off my problems or my husband’s problems.  I was constantly in a place of utter torment.

Fear is the Opposite of Faith

Did you know that fear is the opposite of faith?  Faith is knowing Who holds your future, fear is not trusting God for your future.  You do not need to fear tomorrow, for God is already there!

“The Lord Himself goes before you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged”. Deuteronomy 31:8

JeremiahWe don’t have to fear that God doesn’t love us or that He won’t come through for us in our time of need. We need to learn to accept the reality of His love for us, so that our fears do not control us. I spent many years trying to control things and trying to fix everything myself instead of allowing God to take control.  I learned to place my marriage, my children and my husband on the altar and to trust God for my future.  That is when God began a transformation in my life.

God has great plans for you and He has promised in Jeremiah to prosper you and to give you a hope and a future.

If you are afraid of facing a person or a circumstance in your life, God’s love will help you cast out that fear, and He will give you peace in place of the fear you once had.  Learn to trust God.  Pray and believe that He will honour His promises and will always do what is best for you, at the time He feels is best for you.

Speak It Out!

Abide in His never-ending love and when times are hard or insecure, and when Satan comes with those fiery darts, trying to convince you that God doesn’t love you, begin to confess with your mouth the truth that God loves you  ALL THE TIME, even during these attacks.   Speak out several times a day “God loves me! God is love and His love is perfect”.  “He casts out all fear and will work everything out for my good”.  Don’t ever let the devil steal, kill or destroy this truth from you.

Love hung on the cross for you and went to hell and back so you could be set free from the bondage of fear.  Love is alive in you right now.

I pray that as you abide in God’s perfect love, that the fruits of the Spirit, Who is alive in you, will become more evident in your life.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law”.  Galatians 5:22-23

There can be no more room for fear as you grow in these divine qualities and attributes. Remember, God’s love is as vast as the ocean!

Cry Out to Your Daddy

BEAUTY FOR ASHES – HELP FOR A HURTING WIFE

DAY 12 – Cry Out to Your Abba Father, He Wants an Intimate Relationship with You

Romans 8:15  So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, Abba, Father.

Cry Out “Abba, Father”

I never really thought of God as my “Abba” Father until a few years ago.  As I grew up, and right into adulthood, I believed God was this distant, scary Being in heaven Who wouldn’t really bless a dirty rotten sinner like me.  I was insecure and I thought that God was always judging me, ready to punish everything I did wrong.

Galatians 4:6: Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father!

Abba is the Hebrew word for Father.  It is an intimate word used by children to their parents.  We could use words like “Papa” or “Daddy” when addressing our own parents and this is how God wants us to relate to Him also, as our Papa or our Daddy.  He is our ever loving Abba Father, and we are his children. Jesus cried out ‘Abba’ and now we, as God’s children, have that right as well. God longs to be a Daddy to you.

“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me”  2 Corinthians 6:18.

God does not want a distant or cold relationship.  He yearns for you to be intimate with Him.  He desires a warm, loving, intimate relationship. “Abba! Father!’ tells you that your Daddy God wants to run up to you and hug you just like a loving earthly father does to his children.

Safe in My Daddy’s Arms

I felt like a little girl in my daddy's arms and didn't want it to end
I felt like a little girl in my daddy’s arms and didn’t want him to let go

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, the one thing I dreaded most was breaking the news to my parents.  I just thought I couldn’t do it.  I remember going to their home and my mum was not in, just my dad and my brother.  I sat down beside my daddy and said I needed to tell him something.  He had been a very disciplined man, meticulous and did everything with excellence.  He was never really into hugs or anything like that, however, when I broke the news to him, he reached out and wrapped his arms around me and I cried like a little child in his arms.  I felt like a little girl again, so safe there, so loved and I didn’t want him to let go.  I didn’t want to face the reality of cancer and what my future held.  I just wanted to stay there in my daddy’s arms.  But he had to let go and I had to face my problems.  My daddy couldn’t change my future, he had no control over what would happen to me. It was then that I realised I had another Daddy who did hold my future and when I placed my trust in Him and ran into His everlasting , loving arms, He would take control of everything and He did just that.  Not only through my illness and all those treatments that came with that, but through my marriage also.  He held my hand and He took control.

If your heart is breaking right now and you are afraid of what the future holds, run into your Papa’s arms and trust Him to fix you and your future.  There is no better place you could be.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!  – 1 John 3:1

Please allow God to engraft into your heart that you have a Daddy who loves you, He is strong enough to protect you, He cares enough to teach you, He is tender enough to hug you, He is alive enough to walk and talk with you.

God is also holy, mighty and awesome, yet He longs for us to call him “Abba Father.”  Sweet Abba Father! The Creator of the universe is also our Papa!

You Are the Apple of Your Daddy’s Eye

Psalm 17 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.

You are the Apple of God's Eye
You are the Apple of God’s Eye

Do you have any idea how attractive you are to God?  You are the centre of God’s affections – the apple of His eye. His compassion and understanding is so vast it cannot be measured. He feels your hurts more deeply than you do because His sensitivity to suffering is so much greater.  You have probably forgotten many of your pains, but God has not. He has perfect recall of every moment of your life. Your tears are still mingled with His at this very moment and He has placed each one of them in a bottle.

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. Psalm 56:8.

He has always been there and always will be

God has been with you every day of your life, through all your trials right from when you were a little girl until now. God is with you all the time, something an earthly parent cannot be and not only is God with you all the time, He gives you His whole attention all the time.

Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. I Peter 5:7.

God is constantly thinking an uninterrupted stream of loving thoughts towards you as though nobody else in the world exists. You don’t have to get His attention, He’s already listening. Maybe as a wife you feel very alone because your husband doesn’t even notice you and takes you for granted.  God is not that way. He cares. He is a God of detail.  The Bible says that God has numbered the hairs of your head. He’s trying to reveal to us in how much detail He knows us and cares about our lives.

Did You Know that God Sings to You?

Have you ever watched a baby sleep peacefully in the arms of a mother after having been fed at the breast? The child no longer squirms and demands, but rests in the embrace of her loving arms. A deep contentment wells up and the mummy often starts to hum a lullaby as she gazes lovingly at her baby’s trusting and beautiful little face.  Imagine your Abba Father gazing down at you as you rest in His love and His heart wells up with joy as He sings you a lullaby.

Zephaniah tells us: “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Most of the time He just says, “I love you,” and softly speaks your name.

God is the perfect parent. He always disciplines in love. He is faithful, generous, kind, and just.  He loves you and He longs to spend time with you. He wants you to receive His love and know that you are a special and unique person to Him. Will you receive God’s love and affection? Won’t you open up and enter into an intimate relationship with your true Daddy? He is patiently waiting for you to come. It is my prayer that you will realize His love for you and respond to the Father heart of God.

Please feel  free to email me any time you wish.
